What are the Differences Between the Cab Configurations on Pickup Trucks?

Differences Between Pickup Truck Cab Configurations

Have you ever wondered what the differences are between the cab configurations of pickup trucks? If so, then you have come to the right place! There are several pickup truck cab configurations, and each truck model may give their configurations slightly different names. Here at AutoMax Truck and Car Center, we tend to use the same cab configuration terms that Chevrolet uses for the Chevrolet Silverado 1500. Let’s explore the three main cab configurations and highlight their differences together!

Red 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Regular Cab

Regular Cab

The first cab configuration that we will highlight is the Regular Cab. This cab configuration is relatively simple. In the Regular Cab configuration, the pickup has only two doors and features bench seating for up to 3 passengers. Typically, there is no extra room behind the seats for storage. With the Regular Cab configuration, the pickup truck will feature the longest box length available for that model. For the 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Regular Cab, customers can choose either the Standard Box (78.87 inches long) or the Long Box (97.77 inches long).

Double Cab

The next cab configuration that we will explore is the Double Cab. This cab configuration features a slightly larger cab interior and offers two half-doors for access to the second row of bench seating. The Double Cab allows for seating of up to 6 passengers. However, the rear passengers will have restricted legroom and not the most comfortable experience during longer trips. The 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Double Cab can only be equipped with the Standard Box. This cab configuration is the most common option for the 2019 Silverado 1500.

Blue 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Crew Cab

Crew Cab

The final cab configuration to highlight is the Crew Cab. This cab configuration features an even larger cab interior that features two full-size rear doors for access to the second row of seating. The Crew Cab also offers seating for up to 6 passengers. However, with this cab configuration, the rear seating area is more spacious and comfortable. Think of this seating area as what you would find in the second row of an SUV. The 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Crew Cab can be configured with either the Standard Box or the Short Box (69.33 inches long).
